We are looking for a creative Copywriter to write clear and concise copy for ads, publications and websites. Your words will inform and engage target audiences.

Fundraising Coordinator

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, the Fundraising Coordinator/Community Relations Specialist (CRS) coordinates all fund development activities. Identifies and researches prospective donors for a wide array of fundraising initiatives/campaigns, prepares donor and corporate profiles, searches for funding opportunities, manages the year-round corporate partners program, prepares proposals for organization support, and helps develop and cultivate donor relationships. This position is also responsible for coordinating educational activities for both community education and fundraising.

Responsibilities
  • Research and maintain individual donor profiles on current and prospective donors and maintain donor prospect pipeline using ASCENDtials donor database and other wealth management systems.
  • Develop and manage donor and corporate sponsor stewardship (e.g. thank you calls, acknowledgement letters, holiday cards, birthdays, TY for event participation, etc.).
  • Research and identify business and family foundation funding opportunities.
  • Working with key personnel; prepares proposals for organization support (e.g. grants, underwriting opportunities, sponsorships, etc.).
  • Develop and coordinate fundraising events (in-person and virtual).
  • Manage and maintain development database.
  • Help coordinate meetings between Director with donors, business leaders and family foundation executives.
  • Along with key personnel, solicits sponsorships and other donations and/or in-kind items (e.g. prizes, plaques, printing, etc.) to support SCRC community events.
  • Coordinate presentation requests and inquiries.
  • Develop and manage marketing pieces and development materials.
  • Attend and present at community meetings and networking events as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Grant Researcher/Writer

We are looking to hire a dedicated grant writer to write grant proposals for our organization. The grant writer will write coherent, organized, and compelling proposals. You will apply your knowledge of fundraising methods and plans to reach income goals. You will collaborate with team members in the organization to assist with other fundraising projects and develop relationships with key stakeholders.

To ensure success you need to write well, have proficient knowledge of fundraising methods, and be committed to the mission you are representing. Preferred applicants are deadline-driven team players with outstanding multitasking abilities.

Philanthropy Associate

The Philanthropy Associate is critical to our overall organizational success and will be responsible for fundraising administration, data management, prospect research, and event coordination for the organization’s 5-year growth campaign.

Responsibilities
  • Research potential prospects, identify existing donors with greater capacity, and manage the prospect pipeline. This includes researching state and federal political giving, philanthropic giving, and PAC giving, among other resources that help to identify net worth.
  • Provide admin assistance to the Director with scheduling meetings, coordinating events, calendar and contacts maintenance, meeting preparation, follow-up, and general fundraising activities.
  • Coordinate virtual events and donor briefings, including the outreach, registration, and tech needs.
    Prepare written and email correspondence, donor profiles, volunteer briefings, donor solicitations, emails, donor updates, reports, and proposals.
  • Support the volunteer Growth campaign
  • Update Raiser’s Edge with regular data entry to ensure that all outreach and meetings are recorded and reported.
  • Prepare regular campaign fundraising reports for the philanthropy and executive team, as well as monthly reports for board committees.
  • Perform other duties that support the needs of the development department, as assigned.

Must Haves
  • Passion for working in the environmental, climate justice, and political space.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related area and/or the aptitude for major gift and campaign fundraising management. Prior political or nonprofit work experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Zoom, and internet research using FEC Lookup and OpenSecrets. Experience with Raiser’s Edge and iWave is a plus.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to present information in a succinct way.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and work with confidential documents.
  • Strong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Event Tabler

ASCENDtials is looking for Event Tablers to carry out events successfully.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Set up chairs, tables, linens and equipment for all events.
  • Help servers complete their tasks.
  • Successfully process credit card transactions and sign up participants.

Clean-Up Supervisors – San Diego, California

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage and participate in highway cleanup activities.
  • The supervisors help volunteers to coordinate pick up garbage, plant trees, bushes and wildflowers on the North and South sides of the highway. The highway has sidewalks on both sides and plenty of beautiful views along the path.

Copy Editor Remote

Copy Editors proofread text for errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling and check for readability, style, and agreement with editorial policy. They suggest revisions, such as changing words and rearranging sentences and paragraphs to improve clarity or accuracy. Book Club Intern – Remote

About the Internship:

Ascendtials is looking for interns from different backgrounds to join our book club program. Our organization is offering an internship where students will receive academic credit for their coursework. We are looking to establish ​​this program for students to participate in many opportunities and for them to receive credit. The ultimate goal of this program is to educate and inspire students to create real social change among the public and government decision-makers.

Interns will attend our online lecture series, where different authors will speak about their written work. These lectures will focus on social justice issues such as racism, poverty, women’s rights, equal pay, and government representation. Interns will be expected to actively participate and engage with the material provided, such as conducting research, studying the author’s written works, completing worksheets, and asking questions during the Q&A section.

Videographer: Volunteer/Interns – Located at San Diego, California.

We are looking for an organized and creative videographer to work with our creative team to plan, film, and edit video content according to client briefs. The videographer’s responsibilities include ensuring that the necessary filming equipment is available for use, directing other camera operators on set, and editing film footage.

To be successful as a videographer you must be able to understand client briefs and work creatively to produce the desired product. A good videographer should stay up to date with industry trends and tools that will make projects more marketable.

Videographer Responsibilities:
  • Film videos on set or on location.
  • Ensure that equipment for a shoot is present and working.
  • Plan the shoot with the creative team and the client.
