Our ARTS Science Consciousness Education and Nature Development (ASCEND) fellowship program gives fellows a program to focus their work on. Currently, fellows are serving as experts in their field of study, for our Build My Spirit program.

Our fellowship program offers yearly up to 12 awardees from institutions across the US and internationally,  to tell their story of struggle through the decolonization of ancient Kemet, as they see it, with purpose, through art expression. During the fellowship, students will create and participate in our healing sessions, Kemetic Yoga, and do elemental-specific activities, writing, and being climate centered to protect those same elements. This fellowship will focus on the study of what is done to protect and preserve always, the environment and humanity, by sharing the stories of our ancestors who had the time and awareness to do so. At the end of the fellowship, students will share what this means in their life as well as share in an exhibition.

Fellowship Program

ARTS Science Consciousness Education and Nature Development fellowship (ASCEND) program is a fellowship program with the purpose of preservation, restoration, and promotion of the Ancient Kemetic Culture through research, art, and other cultural practices. The ASCEND fellowship is envisioned to:

1. Support BIPOC artists by training them in the Dogon process of creation that stems from West Africa and that all natural beings engage in.
2. Research, document, and record Kemetic art and culture as an artistic and cultural form of ancestral knowledge. 
3. Offer our curriculum and donation-based art workshops to the BIPOC community in San Diego.
4. Train interested local artists and cultural practitioners to become a fellow of The ASCEND fellowship program.
5. Hold free workshops on Kemetic-inspired art.
6. Plan and hold an exhibition, partner with a museum, and curate towards the decolonization of museums initiative. At this exhibition, art created throughout this fellowship by the fellows will be presented and open for purchase. 
7. Providing BIPOC artists with an opportunity to hold art workshops, implement our curriculum and teach art/cultural practices to the community.
