Mini Earthkeepers is part of our Build My Spirit framework curriculum, offering nature-based learning experiences for children ages 3–8 through community-centered, hands-on activities. This program transforms our farmers’ markets and waterfront parks into early learning hubs where youth explore nature, science, and stewardship in ways that help protect and preserve the earth and humankind.

Through gardening, beach cleanups, storytelling, astronomy, Kemetic yoga, and lessons rooted in cycles, reciprocity, and ancestral knowledge, children build emotional resilience, strengthen their sense of identity, and deepen their connection to the natural world. At the farmers’ market, youth reinforce what they learn through a dedicated learning station focused on this monthly curriculum content.

How the program works

  • The program uses our Build My Spirit curriculum content
  • Market transforms into a true community space by becoming a learning hub
  • Offers literacy sessions and experiential learning designed to attune with nature onsite, cosmic, environmental, spiritual, and civic
  • Sessions are free, donation-based, intergenerational, and all can participate
  • For 3 hours, parents and caregivers can shop and feel safe to leave their children with trained staff while shopping
  • The program is year-round on every market day

Night sky youth camp

As part of this program, we also offer separate Night Sky Sessions for Youth during night sky viewing gatherings at Oak Oasis Park. These evening sessions extend the same curriculum through astronomy-based learning and reflection, giving children another opportunity to connect with the universe, cultural wisdom, and their role as young earthkeepers and stewards.

Upcoming Overnight Camp program!

Activities will include: night sky viewings, bonfire, learning herbs and healing methods, Kemetic yoga, day/night hikes, tree planting, scavenger hunts!

Build My Spirit is a before and after school program for low-income BIPOC youth (ages 5-17) in San Diego. The program seeks to provide children in our community with activities that support them spiritually, mentally, and physically. The key to all this is empowering the disadvantaged, and dismantling the unseen barriers of inequality.

To protect our youth is to protect our future.
