Program
participants

  • Our membership structure supports two different pathways to keep things accessible and clear:
  • Volunteering (a service pathway): Requires a Volunteer Membership (mandatory for all volunteers).
  • Program Participation (a learning + community pathway): Features Program Membership Levels (optional, for in‑person program participants).

Program Overview

Participants join ASCENDtials programs to:

  • Learn through experiential, culturally grounded education
  • Build skills in environmental stewardship, wellness, and community leadership
  • Contribute meaningfully to community events, markets, and youth programming
  • Receive structured guidance, reflection prompts, and learning materials
  • Progress through the Participant Pathway toward deeper involvement

This pathway is ideal for learners, emerging leaders, and individuals seeking personal or professional development through community-based work.

Who Qualifies

The Program Participant role is designed for:

  • Individuals seeking structured learning, not volunteer hours
  • Students, young adults, and community members wanting hands-on experience
  • People exploring environmental, cultural, or wellness-based fields
  • Individuals who want to contribute to community events while learning
  • Those who prefer a guided, educational experience rather than open-ended volunteering
Note: If someone needs court-ordered hours, they should instead join the
Court-Ordered Community Service Program.
