Farmers' Market eGift Card Token Program
For Vendors & Customers.
What is our eGift token program?
The Farmers' Market now offers Square eGift Cards! Customers can purchase digital gift cards and redeem them for market-issued tokens at the info booth. These tokens can be spent at any participating vendor—even those who don’t use Square.
For Customers:
The process is simple. Here are the steps:
- Bring your Square eGift Card to the market info booth.
- We’ll verify your balance and exchange it for tokens (e.g., $25 = 25 tokens).
- Spend tokens like cash at any booth displaying the “Tokens Accepted Here” sign.
- Tokens are non-refundable and must be used at the market.
For Vendors:
The process is just as simple! Here's how:
- Accept tokens as payment from customers.
- At the end of the market day, turn in collected tokens to the market manager.
- You’ll be reimbursed the full token value via cash, check, or digital transfer.
- No Square account needed—just sign up with the market manager to participate.

Important Notes & Vendor Reimbursement Policy
Important Notes:
- Tokens are only valid at the City Heights and Marina District markets.
- Lost tokens cannot be replaced.
- Vendors must be registered with the market to redeem tokens.
Vendor Reimbursement Policy for ASCENDtials eGift Cards
Purpose: To ensure smooth and transparent reimbursement for vendors who accept ASCENDtials-issued eGift Cards as payment at our farmers’ markets.
Overview: ASCENDtials offers digital eGift Cards through Square to increase community access to fresh, local goods. These cards are distributed to community members and may be used as payment at participating vendor booths.
Vendor Responsibilities: Vendors may accept ASCENDtials eGift Cards only if they are issued through our official Square account. Cards must be presented digitally or printed with a visible Square-issued code or confirmation. Vendors should verify the card’s validity and amount before accepting it as payment.
Reimbursement Process: At the end of each market day, vendors must bring accepted eGift Cards to the ASCENDtials Info Booth for reimbursement. Staff will verify the card(s) and issue reimbursement via:
- Same-day cash, if available, or
- Electronic reimbursement within 3 business days
Important Final Notes: Only cards issued by ASCENDtials via Square are eligible for reimbursement. Vendors are encouraged to keep a simple log of gift card transactions for their records. ASCENDtials is not responsible for cards accepted outside of this policy.
