Vision

We are activating the Marina District–starting with the Kettner Boulevard corridor as a vibrant hub for local business, cultural celebration, and inclusive economic growth.

Our goal is to establish a Business Improvement District (BID) that reflects the unique character of our community while providing sustained support for merchants, artisans, and entrepreneurs.

Early Momentum

To build visibility and community engagement, we’ve launched two anchor initiatives:

  • Marina District Farmers Market: A weekly showcase of local produce, BIPOC-owned food vendors, and youth entrepreneurs, promoting food equity and neighborhood vitality.
  • Kettner Block Party Series: A seasonal event featuring live music, local makers, wellness activities, and family-friendly programming—designed to foster connection and drive foot traffic.

These activations have already sparked renewed interest in the corridor and demonstrated the potential for coordinated district-wide programming.

MDBA (MAD) Objectives

  • Beautification & Infrastructure: Streetscape improvements, signage, lighting, and public art to enhance the pedestrian experience.
  • Marketing & Promotion: Collaborative campaigns to elevate local businesses and attract visitors.
  • Business Support & Advocacy: Technical assistance, permitting guidance, and representation at the City level.
  • Youth & Vendor Empowerment: Pathways for students and emerging entrepreneurs to launch and grow businesses within the district.
