Cannabis Equity Healing Session

“We are building a movement for Cannabis Social Equity in San Diego and we invite you to join our next, biweekly meeting happening this Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 6pm at Cafe X. Our work is about healing ourselves from the decades long War on Drugs that has wreaked havoc on our communities, decimated our families, and traumatized generations. Our vision for healing is as far-reaching as the harm we’ve endured. From educational opportunity to economic prosperity; from environmental sustainability to access to quality care, quality jobs, and quality housing; from the right to preserve our cultures, languages and lands to the right to participate in our democracy, we deserve full health and total wellbeing! We demand nothing short of total equity! Are you with us?! In this upcoming session, we will continue a Design Thinking Process to answer the questions:
What do we *survivors of the War on Drugs* need to heal ourselves and our communities?
How might we develop a community platform that lays out the principles, goals and strategies for a robust, comprehensive and restorative cannabis social equity program that benefits people and communities most adversely affected by the War on Drugs, not just victims interested in cannabis entrepreneurship?

Our work is ongoing, our work is evolving, our work is iterative. New faces, new voices are welcome and needed. Contact Aliyah at aliyah.y@ascendtials.org for questions.

Cannabis Equity Healing Session

San Diego City Council will hold its next meeting regarding the Cannabis Equity Assessment, Tuesday, Oct. 11th. Our organization is taking part in bringing awareness to this details of the assessment in order to ensure those that were harmed by the “war on drugs” during the years of this continually successful transgenerational destruction of black, brown and Indigenous communities. Most in these communities aren’t inclined to speak on this topic, but if the city is drafting an assessment on how to right the wrongs of the past, why not make sure all those harmed have a voice and healing can begin. True healing would entail securing generational wealth that was lost during this time period, that the community have licensing and can reap the benefits of success in the community as a whole. Helping just a few people won’t suffice. Let’s get together to discuss these talking points that the assessment should have as its framework. To have your voice heard, please check out this Call-to-action developed by our partner RiseUP San Diego!

As a 3rd and 4th generation San Diegan, Anthony has witnessed the impact a family unit has on community as well as the impact community has on the family unit’s wellbeing.  As a survivor of the failed drug war, Anthony is acutely aware of the disproportionate trauma that some communities continue to experience. The pharmacological and economic powerhouse that is cannabis represents both direct and indirect pathways to community healing. Anthony has studied Human Resource Management as well as obtained multiple certifications through Columbia Care and Americans for Safe Access “Patient Focused Care” program. As a certified patient-focused cannabis expert, Anthony has developed retail SOP’s, curriculum and facilitated cannabis education programs for our most vulnerable San Diegans.

Anthony has logistical expertise in HRM as well as c-suite support and has assisted both legacy operators and MSO’s brand development. This has cultivated an understanding of cannabis business needs while developing standards of equity with multiple stakeholders within the emerging cannabis industry. Anthony is dedicated to honoring the work of those that came before us by creating the most effective cannabis social equity program in the natio
