Sharyna is an Attorney from the Law office of Sharyna Scott, who is teaming up with ASCENDtials to bring a Generational Workshop to the LiveWell Center. The workshop is designed to share insight into the trans-generational trauma we hold about land within the United States, so that we could heal and learn to preserve our land and story. Sharyna will do this by offering tips/tools to get yourself and future generations set up for success.

Discover the Shore Family Exhibit at Our Workshop!

Step back in time and explore the remarkable journey of the Shore Family through our engaging exhibit during the Generational Wealth Workshop. In 1870, Nebraska saw 789 African Americans, a number that soared to 8,900 by 1890. Uncover the compelling narrative of the Shore Family and their settlement in Custer, Dawson, and Harlan counties, establishing Black colonies like Overton in 1885 and others in Cherry County. Delve into the societal factors inspiring the Exodus of 1879, appreciate the socio-economic context, and grasp the risks and opportunities these families faced.

Let their courageous trek thousands of miles for a chance at a better life inspire us all to persevere. Join us in honoring their legacy at this unique exhibit. Exhibit hosted By Kamau Haymon, Assistant Curator at the African Diaspora Museum and Research Center.
