Certified Farmers’ Market Mission Summary
The mission of our ASCENDKemet Collective Certified Farmers’ Market is to represent the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) community of San Diego through its local vendors, farmers, and artisans. ASCENDKemet aims to support and uplift the African community, as well as its commitment to holistic living and selling fresh, nutritious produce. Our open-air market stands out from the rest because it’s made by the BIPOC community, for the BIPOC community. Our vendors identify with holistic thinking and are principled concerning what products we use and support. Many are highly melanated, and understand the importance of an exchange and barter culture to help each other to create healthy, thriving communities. Our collective of vendors also understand that holistic is not the same as alternative and that catering to the whole person is of utmost importance–mind, body, and spirit. Now that the ASCENDKemet Collective Certified Farmers’ Market has been accepted into the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), SNAP participants are also eligible to use their EBT benefits to buy select food items. Our California Certified Farmers’ market is the real thing, and we make it our mission to create a space where real people can sell real produce to their local community.

Positive Solutions
We are a Non-Profit Organization- Positive Solutions is a prevention and early intervention program who provides free, short-term, telehealth counseling services and minor case management to individuals 60+ who have minor depression or are at-risk of becoming depressed. We provide services to individuals (60+) in all of San Diego of all cultural backgrounds.

The San Diego International Birthing Project
“Helping healthy women to have healthy babies” The San Diego International Birthing project was re-born in November 2019. We are a grassroots community based 501c3 organization providing education, support and advocacy for women of color. We understand Black infants in San Diego are 3x more likely to die than white babies, 60% Black babies are more likely to be born premature. For more than thirty years Black women have encountered implicit bias in the healthcare system, stress, and misdiagnosis. It is important for the community to work together as one. Therefore, we solely support the California Dignity Pregnancy and Childbirth Act: SB 464, that was approved October 2019. There is a continuous effort on our behalf to make a difference, one day and one mother at a time.

We are a family-run bakery shop in San Diego and the surrounding areas that specializes in soulful sweet treats. We arrive with desserts that are prepackaged, safe, and guaranteed to blow your mind! You will be ecstatic to find everything from Cake Hunks to Caakies, sweet potato brownies to those nostalgic Peanut Butter Chews from elementary school. To serve your delectable treats from, we can also bring our 1973 travel trailer. We call her Cupcake; she is unique and special in this county.

I started during the pandemic in 2020 cooking meal preps and party trays. I primarily cook southeast Asian and Central American food. My food background came from my parents! My Dad is Vietnamese & my mom is Panamanian. Overtime I’ve added my own twists to their recipes. As of 2024 I’ve obtained my permit and it has been a joy sharing these unique dishes to the public!
