Garden

Volunteers

Our garden is a shared learning space where families, youth, and community members come together to grow food, build soil, and cultivate connection. Here’s everything new volunteers need to know before getting started.

What Volunteers Do

Volunteers help keep the garden thriving through simple, hands‑on tasks such as:

l Watering beds during weekly rotations

l Weeding, mulching, and general garden upkeep

l Planting and harvesting seasonal crops

l Supporting compost care and soil‑building activities

l Assisting during workshops, youth sessions, and community days

l Helping maintain clean, safe pathways and shared tool areas

No experience is required — just curiosity and a willingness to learn.

How We Maintain the

Garden

We use a shared stewardship model that keeps the workload light and consistent:

l Weekly task rotations for watering, compost, and bed care

l Monthly community workdays to reset the space

l Seasonal planting and mulching days

l Youth and family volunteers supporting during educational programs

l Simple checklists to guide each task and ensure continuity

Our goal is to keep the garden healthy, beautiful, and welcoming year‑round.

How We Cover the Annual Rent

The garden is sustained through a mix of community support:

Monthly workshops and educational programs

 “Adopt‑a‑Bed” contributions from supporters

Optional volunteer membership donations (sliding scale, with waivers available)

 Small grants and local sponsorships

Occasional fundraising events

Every dollar goes directly toward rent, water, soil, tools, and programming for youth and families.
