Volunteer Syllabus
A quick guide to your onboarding, expectations, goals, and project milestones.
1. Onboarding
A brief introduction to ASCENDtials/MDBA, your team assignment, and the tools you’ll use. During onboarding, you will review this syllabus and understand what to expect during your volunteer period.

2. Meet & Greet
Meet with your Team Lead to discuss your interests, confirm your team placement, and review your role’s SOP. You will also learn about your Final Project, which highlights gaps, opportunities, or a project aligned with your team’s goals. You must submit your Final Project Registration Form before your two‑week check‑in. You will:
- Meet with your lead before the check‑in to review your draft
- Follow the ASCENDtials Style Guide & Brand Kit
- Present your Final Project Introduction at the Staff Meeting on the date below
3. Two-Week Check-In & Presentation
Your Team Lead will meet with you on the Friday before your presentation to review your draft. You will present your Final Project introduction at the next Staff Meeting.
You must complete your Volunteer Identified Goals before this check‑in.

4. Closing Interview & Evaluation
At the end of your volunteer period, you will complete a final interview with your Team Lead, Hiring Team, and Director. You will also complete the Final Evaluation and may submit an optional Reflection Paper (counts toward 5% of hours).

Program Team Goals
- Strengthen market operations and youth vendor support
- Improve learning station delivery and documentation
- Maintain accurate program data and reporting
- Support community impact through consistent program execution
Community Development Team Goals
- Build and maintain school, family, and community partnerships
- Support outreach for markets, workshops, and cleanups
- Increase family engagement and volunteer participation
- Strengthen communication and partner follow-up
Business Development Team Goals
- Support sponsorship outreach and donor communication
- Maintain grant calendars and reporting
- Strengthen business and civic partnerships
- Contribute to sustainability and resource development
Web/Publishing Team Goals
- Maintain and update the team dashboard
- Support website updates and publishing work flows
- Create and organize digital assets and templates
- Ensure brand consistency across all materials
Data & Systems Team Goals
- Track and organize all program data
- Maintain Google Drive, Dashboard, and Asana systems
- Support reporting for Programs, CD, and BD
- Ensure accuracy, accessibility, and continuity of information
Event Crew Team Goals
- Support market setup, breakdown, and logistics
- Assist with vendor and youth vendor coordination
- Maintain safety, flow, and customer experience
- Document event needs and improvements
